Salzburg rings a bell for many people: some people think of Mozart and the incredible, historical city centre; sports fans of course think immediately of Red Bull Salzburg, one of the most famous European Football academies, and the roaring Red Bull Formula 1 racing cars. You then also have the Mozart Trophy, which takes place during Pentecost. The tournament is played at a wonderful sports park, the "Salzachsee", a couple of kilometres from the famous city centre. The five star sports complex on the banks of the Salzach river boasts 7 pitches, 2 club houses and, as the name Salzachsee suggests, a beautiful recreational lake.

Afternoon /

Arrival: check-in with welcome address and information at Salzachsee sports park.

The sports complex is the home ground for a number of clubs. You will be informed in person by our on-site employees about your stay and the tournament.

Saturday

Daytime /

Opening ceremony at Salzachsee sports park with a team parade in the stadium. 10:30 am: Start of match programme. The matches will be officiated by referees from the “Salzburger Fussball Verband” [Salzburg football association].

Team leader meeting: welcome reception at the sports park arranged by the organisers for the team leaders.

Evening /

Free time. Tip: a visit to a traditional funfair directly next to the sports park.

Sunday

Daytime /

Qualification matches and finals followed by a prize-giving ceremony at the sports park.

Afternoon /

UEFA Respect ceremony: every participant receives a medal on the podium.

Sport facillity

The Mozart Trophy will be played on the 7 pitches at the Salzachsee sports park. This top venue has 2 club houses with a restaurant and a leisure lake within walking distance. Participants can take advantage of the Salzachsee public beach for the whole day on Saturday. The sports park is only 3 kilometres from Salzburg city centre.

Touristic information

Salzburg

Just 3 kilometres from the sports grounds is Salzburg city centre. Here, you will find countless historic buildings, palaces and churches. A standout highlight is the city's symbol: the Hohensalzburg. This fortress stands on top of a mountain, providing wonderful views. With dimensions of 250 by 150 metres, it’s one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. Not really a history buff? Then go and shop to your heart's content in one of the lively shopping streets, such as Getreidegasse. If you need a break, there are plenty of lively restaurants and terraces to enjoy.

Red Bull Arena

Football fans definitely should not miss out on the Red Bull Salzburg home base. The Red Bull Arena was one of the competition locations during the 2008 European Championships. The stadium is located in close vicinity of the sports grounds.

Salzburger Dult

Ever wanted to experience a true Austrian folk festival? Well, here’s your chance! The Salzburger Dult takes place at exactly the same time as the Mozart Trophy. It’s only five minutes from the Salzachsee by car, at the Trade Fair and Congress Centre. This traditional festival has been around since the Middle Ages. It’s a combination of a fun fair, market, food stalls, live music and folklore clubs. A great event for everyone. It’s going to be a festive Pentecost weekend!

The school and sports hall for the Mozart Trophy are situated next to each other in a residential neighbourhood of Salzburg. They are located between the city centre and the "Salzach" tournament venue (3 kilometres from both).

Showers are available at the tournament location.

In general it is a classroom per team. There are also larger rooms and sports halls for 2 to 4 teams from the same club.
